WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

In this 3-day workshop, Zhaoming will teach a traditional "painterly" way to oil painting, and apply it to figure painting in an “alla prima" approach.  The workshop will emphasize composition, color, understanding light on form, and producing appropriate values and edges to create mood and atmosphere. The workshop will lead the student into the figure painting practice by  watching  Zhaoming’s demonstrations. The workshop will be conducted using demos, individual instructions, and critiques.  This workshop is a special opportunity since he has a very limited amount of them each year.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Born in Guangzhou, China, Zhaoming Wu graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art in China, where he earned a BFA in painting and received his MFA in painting from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California. Long active as both an artist and teacher, Zhaoming is a very successful painter and his works hang in museums and private collections around the world. He served as an assistant professor of painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art in China for seven years and is currently an instructor of painting at the Academy of Art University.  Check out his many books available on his website.
